The Yukon River in Eagle, Alaska

The source of the Yukon River is disputed, but today the generally accepted source is the Llewellyn Glacier at the southern end of Atlin Lake. With 3,190km it is the longest river in Alaska and Yukon, and historically it was one of the principal means of transportation during the 1896-1903 Klondike Gold Rush. Just 13km from the Canadian Border, the Eagle Bluffs force the river into a big turn and it widens to over 500m.
